Domestic Installation - North London

Air conditioning was required throughout the house and we installed five indoor units on a single DAIKIN VRV 2 pipe condenser as part of this property renovation, using the design parameters of this system to their maximum index potential.

Ground Floor
The main living and dining areas each had a wall mounted air handler, sited at high level either side of the chimney breast, this hid the units from view without compromising the conditioned air flow.

Mezzanine Floor
As part of the conversion, a small study was created above an existing double garage. We installed a small wall mounted air handler, pipes and cables were run in the ground floor ceiling void.

First Floor Bedrooms
The main bedroom was served by a discreet ducted air handler sited in the loft space. All air flexes were hidden in the ceiling rafter and the air supply ceiling grilles where fitted in white to match the décor. The guest bedrooms were served by a wall mounted air handler. Because these two bedrooms where directly above the living and dining room it allowed us to run the refrigerant pipes up the hidden side of the chimney breast. All house pipes and cables were later boxed in by the builders.

The condenser was sited behind the summer house, at the bottom of the garden some 80 metres away. The refrigeration pipes and cables were buried and covered by grass and flower beds – you wouldn't know they were there!

This is some of the technical specification for the system we installed:
An energy efficient inverter drive VRV condenser working on ozone friendly R407c.
The extension of the VRV pipe work form the other units, was itself 30 metres from the closest pipe joint. This room could not have conditioned on an individual split system and could only be served by a VRV-VRF system.
Each indoor unit works on its own low voltage wall mounted controller.
The VRV system will support a maximum pipe run of up to 150 metres. The total accumulated internal pipe was 45 metres.

When the house sold we were told the air conditioning system was a major factor in the sale of the property along with the hot tub.
